Presqu'ile Winery was founded in 2007 by the Murphy
family, inspired by their passion for high-quality winemaking and agricultural
heritage. The name "Presqu'ile," meaning "almost an island"
in French, honors a family gathering place on the Mississippi Gulf Coast that
was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. This loss deeply influenced their
vision, symbolizing resilience, cherished memories, and a commitment to
creating something lasting and meaningful.
Madison Murphy, a resident of El Dorado, Arkansas, has a
distinguished background in business and philanthropy. He has held leadership
roles in Murphy Oil Corporation and Murphy USA and is a founding member of the
Murphy Arts District in El Dorado. His involvement in Presqu'ile Winery
reflects his family's agricultural roots and their commitment to producing
high-quality wines with a focus on sustainability.
